Default Transmission service question?

Hi,
I'm getting ready to do a full service of my transmission.
145k and it's slipping and surging as it goes into first gear from a rolling stop.
I can also feel some delay in hunting for gears as I climb at speed.

No codes and it shifts fine in command shift mode.
I converted to the BMW separate filter pan from AB and changed the ZF oil at 90k.

Question 1: With no codes and only slipping can I just change the oil and reset adaptions and see if it improves shifting? It's PITA to reclaim oil and do the job again.

Question 2: If I'm going to get in there again doesn't it make sense to just do it all, Solenoids, sleeves, mechatronic, oil, filter, gasket?

Question 3: I want to ID my transmission and I think it's a 6HP26 based on my VIN. 2006 LR3. Would you recommend that I crawl under the truck and get the stamped numbers off the side for a positive ID before I order parts?

Question 4: Is CTSC the best place to get the kit on the west coast of the US?

I've been doing a lot of research and in a nerdy way, I'm looking forward to the service job.
It's been slipping for a few years now.

Any advice is appreciated,

=Dave

1 - At this point, sure.
2 - If ya want, pull that valve body and dont forget about the body to main housing seals. Cheap, easy and worth it.
3 - You generally have a sub-build part reference on the side of the trans you need. Because while the main part number for the trans is the same, there can be rolling changes. Handy just to have it on hand but likely you dont require it.
4 - No clue.

With that said, I would first simply verify fluid level. Then I would not discount the fact your torque convertor may be failing.

4 - I highly recommend CTSC

Great customer service - That's where I got my steel pan conversion - very knowledgable, willing to talk on the phone, etc
They have almost everything you would need to refurb your trans - sadly, they don't seem to carry the steel pan kit anymore

Good luck
