just a quick question want some opinions. my disco 2 has 127k on it and i dont know if it ever had the 60k but also do you need to do your 60k every 60k miles. like at 120 should i have done it again (i bought it used at 119k)

 

if you have no service records...............I'd say better get on it.

it is something you want to do yourself, by the time your done you will have about $1000.00 in materials alone, start adding $140 an hour for labor and its probably $2500 at a dealer.

 

Go to the top of this D2 section and read my major service list, make sure for sure that your drive shaft has been rebuilt or replaced and see if you have 8 mm silicone wires.
This service every 45 to 60 K to lesson your major problems later.

 

just wondering what types of oil do i use the one at the top of the page i had a hard time understanding what oil types i need for the diff and transfer case.

 

the diffs and transfer case are kind of up to you, it depend if you want to use regular gear lube or synthetic.

 

Always assume nothing was ever done, ever.
Its easy and not hard, flush and fill the coolant after you change all the cooler lines and thermostat.
Do a tune up, thats spark plugs and wires.
Change the engine oil and filter, Shell Rotella 5w-40, its cheap and its great oil.
Go to NAPA and buy your oil filter, any "line" of NAPA oil and air filter is fine.
Change the transmisson oil and filter and the gear oil in the diffs and t-case, all three take gear oil.
Dont waste your money on overpriced filters or full synthetic gear oils etc. because they wont do anything for you.
Your truck came with 80w-90 gear oil, I like to use 75w-140, any brand is fine, I go to Tractor Supply and buy their house brand.
Its not rocket science its maintenance.
Take your time, start at the front and work your way back, do things as you can afford them, dont go broke working on your truck, its not going to last forever no matter what you do.
Get the maintenance upto date before college because once you start you will have zero money for the truck.
