Truck Had a Stroke (Lots of Codes Including U0416)
Finally got it running happy and used the IID tool to lift it 25 clicks or about an inch then put over a hundred miles on it.
Get into a parking lot to park and am circling the lot when at full lock left it shudders and feels like it the wheels are rubbing. Then find a spot and go into it at full right lock, same shudder and feel. Very slow speed and the first time I’ve felt this.
hmmm.
As I’m parking the truck freaks the f-out and throws the HDC fault, tells me special programs won’t work and activates the yellow brake light on the dash.
Plug in the IID tool and read the faults and see all of the faults. Like every damn one decides to show up but only one threw the CEL: U0416-84: suspension bus signal message failure.
What dafq?
Cleared codes but the lights on the dash stayed and so did the codes. Hmmm.
Since we were at our destination we went inside and did our thing for 30 min. Came back out and the truck was fine. No codes or lights like it never happened. No weird shuddering or noise.
Did some research and of course first thing is battery. It’s new and under a year old and was at 13.9v when this happened. It’s a Costco Interstate AGM so maybe an exchange is in order?
All the brake lights work. Brake switch maybe the issue but it works. Alternator is new within the last 2 years and seems to be working fine.
Height sensors visually look ok and not damaged now so the rods.
I’ve attached the codes for reference. The audio ones are always there which I ignore and have no clue about.
Anyone have any ideas because I’m not sure where to start.
My 07 had this problem when I bought it. My cluster would trigger this too. A few times just pushing the trip reset button would cause it to stroke out. Mine would also lock/unlock the doors and flash the hazards.
Not sure how the full stop turn shudder would be related, but who knows?
Since replacing the brake switch and having the cluster repaired, problem solved for 10 months, 8,000+ miles on a daily driver.
Maybe with your digital lift kit combined with your full-stop turns, you torqued a ride height sensor just out of range. Just guessing, but this condition should be repeatable. There are many more suspension guru's on here way above my knowledge.
