Default Update on California stop issue

I have a 2006 LR3 that is plagued by the California stop issue. It's pretty bad - unless I come to a complete stop there is about a 1/2 second pause when I hit the gas and it slams the trans pretty hard. It's unpleasant to drive and can't be good for the car.

The dealer told me it was a software issue. They did an update. No help. I reset the adaptive settings. A little help, I think. I read that a fluid flush solved it for most people. Did that. No help. Green Oval had previously not found the issue. So two places had not diagnosed or fixed it. After living with it for too long I took it to Columbia Roving. They found the wrong fluid in the transfer case. They said it looked like trans fluid rather than whatever fluid LR specs for the transfer case. I've read that many think it does take trans fluid. According to these guys it's not the same.

Either way, the problem is now solved. I still have a slight delay - maybe 1/4 second where it seems to downshift. I can absolutely live with this issue and it's not unpleasant at all.

If any of you are having an issue with a pause and then getting slammed when going from a rolling stop, try changing your transfer case fluid. It's a completely different car for me now.
