because:
- i'm coil converted and i don't really care about knowing when my diffs are locked
- the nav system died last year
- the real estate gained with the cubby is 100% more useful (snacks, phone, sunglasses, etc)
final version:
- will include a back panel to prevent items from getting forever lost between the dash and the firewall.
- made out of hardwood of perhaps 3d printed
- thinner sides (like in the second pic) to fit the oem rubber mat
To each their own.....curious though, why does being coil converted make you uninterested in your diffs?
those are two separate reasons. i'm not uninterested because i'm coil converted. i'm uninterested because knowing the state of my diffs doesn't provide me with actionable feedback while on the trail. when i see it, i think: "oh neat, it engaged. it's doing its job". separately, being coil converted renders the rest of the screen unusable (wheel height diagram).
...although, the screen shows a lot more than that. It displays all TR settings, direction the wheels are pointed, you can put a compass up there....but I got ya, most of its benefits pertain to the EAS.

May as well put a decent head unit in since you no longer need to keep screen functionality.
No errors errors without the stock screen? Wish I knew that was possible - I always wanted the HSE stereo.
I bought an LR3 SE justto avoid the LR-screen and immediately installed a Garmin touchscreen that included NAV, Bluetooth, front & rear cameras and even software defined 12v switches AND I still miss the cubby a little..
BTW - my dashboard display shows steering position when in off-road modes and the steering wheel is >1 full rotation from center. VERY Helpful! Maybe you can re-enable this capability there.
yup, my dash display by the speedo shows steering position, too. I had to close the MOST loop to restore sound with one of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . The female version fits the factory connector, so no splicing needed. I also used my GAP tool to set the CCF navigation setting to "unequipped" or whatever the uninstalled option was. i presume these are why i don't have errors.
