What did you do to your LR3 today?
Had the rear driver side lower control break at the bushing but was still drivable. Replaced both sides control arm, poly bushings, front tie rod kit, front bushings done. Complete brake fluid replacement.
This situation is worsened by the fact I’m maintaining a D1 as well. So it’s going to be kraft dinner for all of November.

It's an anagram!
anyways, the switch in the tailgate handle failed and rather than replace the entire handle and spending $70 I decided to raid the junkbox and epoxy in a computer switch.
What i do today? Decided if I want to drive 1.5 hours to the dealership to put on the rear brake pads, rotors, wear light indicator clips or use a local mechanic for it.
Dealer - $1,000
Dealer - $500.00 if they use my parts. I have new rotors, disks, wear electric indicator (Kit from atlantic british.
Local - $270.00 labor using my parts.
Do I trust non LR mechanic? Well its just brakes not sure how tricky the rears are. Does not look very hard and Im not a brake expert.

This is DIYable so your mechanic should easily be able to follow the instructions and not have to “improvise” (guess) 😎

After my LR3 getting lots on suspension work done about 100km ago the alternator got jealous and decided to pack it in with the bearings going. Horrible grinding noise while driving. Ordered a rebuilt Denso from Rockauto and wrestled it in and in hour and half. My next posting on this forum will be “Hope nothing else needs replacing”.
Edit: Adding part numbers for reference.
4.4 liter V8 HSE alternator is OEM Denso model: 210-1081
LR part number: LR124960
Retaining bolts are 13mm in size
In speaking with others all agree that the Denso is best of all the alternators.

Changed out the transmission oil, the old oil didn't look or smell too bad but I doubt it's ever been done. No particular problems besides a harsh 1-2 shift under heavy acceleration and that is gone now. It does feel like it gets better the more I drive it, a combination of barn sour and adapting to my drive style.
I did not reset the transmission, apparently the internet advises against it.
