Went to the DIY shop and put my rig on a lift. OMG I need an auto lift in my life. I changed Front and Rear differential, transfer case, and engine Oil. Took me less than 2 hours. Such a great asset to have a DIY garage with a lift and all the tools. I honestly am already planning my text project. I have always liked working on cars but crawling around on the ground is for the young me. Yes I should of took pictures.
It’s called Stews Garage in Kirkland. $40 an hour for a bay with lift and all tools. I looked up the The Shop in SoDo look amazing. The Land Rover club is having a meeting there tomorrow , I was going to go but we have a school assembly that night
I have a buddy that is a member at The Shop. I have been there with him a couple times as his guest...we wash/polish our cars there in winter. It's a real nice thing to be able to do. The place is really quite nice. I plan on using one of their lifts this month or next for my annual "Underside Day." That's the day I sand off any surface rust from off-roading and such....and paint over it. I also coat all steel with an anti-corrosion spray called BOESHIELD.
Finally got around to having all of the fluids replaced. I'd purchased my LR3 last summer and was nervous about putting too many more miles on it without a fluid swap (tranny, diffs, brake, coolant). Also had a sway bar tightened up to stop a clunk that developed last summer. Didn't have time to do any of this stuff myself, so I bit the bullet and took it to the local indie shop. After finally selling my previous camping rig (VW Eurovan camper), I used some of the proceeds to buy some expedition toys for the LR3 (solar panel and solar generator with ARB 50 qt fridge/freezer, hi-lift jack). Looking forward to some extended trips once summer arrives, but I did manage a getaway about a week ago to the E WA desert (photo below). Happily, I found that my new sleeping pad (Exped Megamat Duo) was a fantastic addition for sleeping in the LR3. The "medium" sized one is 41" wide and fits beautifully. So much more comfortable than any other pad I've had, including REI Camp Bed, Thermarest, etc. and wide enough for two.
Replaced the secondary tensioner, which will hopefully cure a cold start squeal, and then gave her a bath. For almost 10 years old its still a damn good looking truck.
Ive only got 79k miles on it and cant decide if I should get a lower mile LR4 or just run this one into the ground for another 10 years. Any opinions appreciated...and any ideas what a 2009 with 79k miles would sell for?
