So the LR3 was in my Garage waiting for me. Shift linkage was jammed. Pulled it apart, cleaned it up and lubed it. Still a bit stiff but functional till I can get the parts delivered from Lucky8.

Did this last week before going away, had this rack i got cheap off ebay and set about making brackets as it didn't have any. I wanted it low and to use the existing short rails but also to clear the sunroof, came up with a simple idea of using rivnuts in the rack then some countersunk M10 s/s bolts + nuts with some alloy flat bar. My only flaw in this plan is that the rails are not parallel as they taper from front to back, easy enough to get around by fitting the mounts in the track then screwing the bolts into the rack.
Now i have something to mount my 42" light bar to that's been in the box since selling the D1.
All I did with my Rover today was sit here, and pray that the Mechanic doesn't find anything more wrong with it.
I presume you are new to this forum and perhaps new to Rovers. I expect your Rover was preowned; as such, you also purchased problems that previous owners did not want to own any longer.
You now have that opportunity. Be happy when your Mechanic finds this and that wrong; otherwise you will, and you will not be sitting, you will be walking.
I have yet to walk re my 2005, but I spend three to five thousand a year just on preventive maintenance; not cheap but walking is not my idea of fun; driving is.
I note the beautifully cared for 3 in the pictures above this post; yours can look that too with lots of time, money, and effort - mainly effort.
Just finished up installing a fresh set of plugs on my Gray 06. The ones that came out were tired.
Hopefully Idler and tensioners will be done tomorrow
That is my idea of maintenance - do it at your convenience or cart it in on one of those tip bed vehicle recovery trucks, and not at Uber rates either.
I do the plugs about every 80,000 miles; the tensioners and idler bearings, I have only done once at about 150,000 miles when one of such started to squeak.

Again, welcome.
Apart from the bird **** on the rear glass it WAS pretty clean, it also helps helps when you buy a 1 owner well maintained vehicle which has been 99% trouble free.
