AC just serviced but issues remain
My 2010 LR4 with 205,000 miles started to sometimes not blow cold air when the AC was on. Seemed to happen more at low speeds or stopped. Eventually could not get any cold air out. Thinking it was low on freon, I added some. Compressor kicked on a bit but then would stop again. Simple gauge showed too high of pressure on the low port side. Maybe I overfilled it? I relieved some pressure and compressor occasionally comes on but sporadically. Not being able to figure it out, I take it to a shop that specializes in AC.
They hooked it up to a fancy digital machine that sucked the R134 out, did a vacuum test for leaks, then filled it with the exact amount of R134. No leaks were found and the AC was blowing cold at 54 degrees with the outside temperature around 72.
Later in the day it stopped blowing cold but I found that if I pushed the AC button off then on again, the cold air would come back on.
I checked the fan clutch while the car was warm and the clutch had good resistance. I could not spin the fan more than half a turn before stopping.
Can anyone shed some light on what I should look at next? Or is this what happens when compressor start to die?
