Default Hitachi to AMK compressor conversion kit

Hello all,

I'm in the middle of replacing my failing Hitachi compressor with the AMK version purchased from Lucky8 for my 2011 LR4. I’m stuck because one of the 3 hoses that came in the pipe kit doesn’t seem to fit no matter which way it is oriented. It’s the largest diameter pipe in this kit and here’s also a pic of the two connection points. It’s possible this is user error somehow, but would really appreciate any help from someone with experience with this job. Thanks so much.

Not even close to routing the pipe from the vehicle to the location on the new compressor.

I think is goes over or under the compressor, not around to the back side. Also might have to flip ends around.

@DakotaTravler thank you! The one orientation I hadn’t thought of 😂. They should really send better instructions with this compressor. They don’t even mention the use of the pipe conversion kit at all!

So where and how are the brass fittings in the kit used? Do you have a picture of that as well?

I think the fittings just plug into the ends of the tubes to reinforce them. This is usually done in a VOSS, not so much with push-connects. So I am not sure if they are critical or necessary.

Thanks again. I just put it all back together without using the brass fittings and all seems fine, no pipes in such a bind where they needed reinforcement IMO. I’ll hang onto the brass fittings just in case, but they really should provide better instructions especially if the parts are different than the originals.

On a side note, reflashing the ECU to work with the AMK compressor was straightforward. The GAP tool did a nice job preparing you to expect the length of time and ignition cycling that was to occur. All seems back in order and the suspension happily changes between modes without faults 😊
