Default Looking for input on diagnostic tools

I have an inexpensive general diagnostic code reader for doing quick reads and clearing codes after I do work on my cars. I also have factory diagnostic and programming software for my BMWs and Audis when I need to go deeper into things.

I have seen a variety of diagnostic software for JLR vehicles. There isn't just one and with each one they have a variety of options that can be bought with the software.

I've never seen anything with so much variety. Prices from $400 to $3500.

Should I just get a more expensive generic reader that works on multi vehicles?

What have you guys used that works well with the LR4?

Gap IID is the gold standard, I have good luck with launch x431 for multi platform. Not a huge fan of the user interface on it but it does the job. I’m looking to update to a top don or autel maybe

I bought a foxwell nt710 loaded with jlr software. I'm really impressed with it. Programs modules, diagnostics and testing of systems, keeps track of everything i do, etc etc. Does it all.
