LR4 rear brake pads

LR4 rear brake pads
Quick questions on replacing LR4 rear brake pads (mine is a 2010).
1) any quick way to check thickness of the rotor? I popped off the wheel but there is a metal plate next to the rotor so I can't get my caliper over the rotor itself. Any easy way to take it off or a trick to measure? Want to check if I need rotors too
2) assuming rotors are fine and I just want to replace pads, is there any complexity from the parking brake system (having to wind it back etc) or is that only to remove the rotor
Did the fronts last weekend and they were v straightforward.
Thanks!

I don't remember there being a big difference in the job front to back. I did all 4 at once, i would say these trucks eat pads and rotors for breakfast so when i replace i don't bother with cutting the rotors, i just replace the whole thing. Yes its more expensive but i only want to do it once every 15-20K, rather have to change pads once and rotors once. The kit i used last time was on ebay for $430, included pads (TRW), rotors (Brembo), sensors and clips. i supply the grease (always use the good stuff). For the parking break i didn't have to adjust it or touch it for that matter, the pads were fine and the rotor slid off without issue, if you do there a few youtube videos out there that show you what you need to do. Good luck!
