LR4 w/ 66K : Too many miles?
Hello all. Need some advice before taking the LR4 plunge. I found an LR4 in the color combo I want (fuji white ext, black int) for $33K, which sounds like a good deal. But should I leave it alone because it has 66K and is not a CPO vehicle? Checked Carfax and it has been regularly serviced at a Land Rover dealer, including the 50K works.
I welcome your input.

If no warranty any vehicle can be costly to fix.
The maintenance by a dealer may not be as much as you would like. The maintenance list will include things like 10 year drain interval on the differential, when it used to be annual or after wading, etc. The front diff takes under a quart of fluid, and costs over $2000 to replace. Fluid is cheap. Rover frequently considers short trips, long idle periods, as "arduous service" and expects more frequent oil and fluid changes. So mall crawling and waiting in line at the drive thru and school pickup might more frequent than 10,000 mile oil changes. My opinion of the factory service intervals is that if done by schedule 95% of trucks will make it past warranty by 2 weeks. If you want longer life, shorten the intervals.

My experience is it's very hard to tell by mileage alone. A vehicle that has mostly done stable cruising at highway speeds and a high mileage could well be a better bet than a low mileage city runabout that has constantly been start-stopped, lots of turning, brakeing, hitting curbs etc...
As Savannah Buzz says, maintenance on any used vehicle past its warranty can be expensive, so mileage isn't necessarily the only factor.
I'd look at how much you're saving vs. a lower mileage version of the same model and year, and make the call on whether that gives you comfort. If it's just $1000 on a vehicle of this value, I'd personally go lower mileage. If it's $5k then you have a pretty big buffer if something goes wrong.
You didn't mention the year, so hard to know if the price is reasonable. I bought a 2010 LR4 a full year ago now with just 35k miles and it was under $40k. So you might be able to trade model year and miles off a bit too.
If in doubt, there are plenty more LR4s around!

It's through the local BMW dealer. The price is well below KBB. It's not CPO (which we'd prefer) but the chances of the right color combo coming up at our LR dealer (which has only had 2 LR4s in the past 6 months) aren't great.
Heart says "do it", head says "hold on a minute"...
If anyone else on the forum has experience buying a higher mileage LR4 I'd appreciate your insight. Thanks to those who've already commented.
