Default Which lr4's came with rear lockers?

I recently bought another lr4 (2011). The seller states that all HSE's have rear lockers, but I thought that might be false as I can't find that documentation. Can anyone comment on how I would confirm?

Check for wiring heading into the diff. LR dealer might be able to do it by vin

Let me preface by saying I could be wrong, but I believe all 2010-2013 LR4s came with the rear locker. (This may not include Euro models with coil suspension). They essentially made the old LR3 HD package standard. In 2014, this changed when they began to offer LR4s without the 2-sp transfer case.

I did a VIN search and it shows "open rear diff" so that concludes the question on whether all HSE's came standard with a rear locker.

At least in North America, only the LR4's specifically outfitted with the HD Package (or Towing Package) came with the rear lockers. You can tell on the 2014-2016's easily because only trucks with this option came with a high/low transfer case. The 2010's are a bit trickier. You need to either look up the vin or ask for a picture of the "off road" screen which will show a rear locker if it's optioned. They also came with full sized spares.

I am not doubting you on this, but is this for certain? I know on the LR3 this is not the case, the lock is always shown for the center and rear not matter how configured. If there is no rear locker you can tell because the icons will always show locked/unlocked in sync - versus one that has a locker where either can show locked independently of the other. I will be fitting an LR4 nav display in an LR3 with no rear locker soon, but of course the CFF is different anyway so prob a moot point.

In the video above they demonstrate the 4x4 page in an LR4 and it only shows a center locker.

So from 2010 to 2011 they all had the center AND rear lockers displayed in the 4x4 info (We have a 2011 HSE with no locker but the info system shows the icon). The icon will never go red and display "locked". I believe the the only way to tell on these models is physically or with a VIN search. BUT in mid 2011 i think or 2012 they updated the older infotainment system to reflect whether or not the truck has a locker or not. Really tricky the way they did it. -@dscofever

Reigniting this thread because I thought I knew the answer then read more and got more confused lol.

I'm looking at a 2012 HSE but the owner does not personally know if it's an HD Package or how to check really. When I run the vin at vindecoderz it shows "Rear Axle Differential - Rear Axle Locking Diff" so it obviously has the locking rear diff.

So my question is: does the locking rear diff on a 2012 definitely mean it's an HD Package, or could a 2012 LR4 ever have the locking diff but not be the HD package?
