Default P008a

Just before the fuel pump recall, I started getting an occasional P0089. Replaced the pressure sensor on the rail and that did nothing. Replaced the fuel pump and that worked for a bit but it came back. After the main dealer did the recall, they also updated the software per the TSB and the code never came back.

A few months ago I noted some rough idling and observed LTF numbers WAY off. Found the PCV valve failed again and replaced, so now on valve number 3 or 4 (genuine only). Of course solved the LTFT problem but shortly after the P0089 code returned after a long absence. It's intermittent but there's a slight roughness at idle, enough to cause vibration throughout the chassis. And then yesterday, for the first time ever the MIL came on with a P0008A. Searches indicate it's common with Evoques, but not much else. Could be the low pressure fuel pump, currently on #3 fitted by the main dealer during the recent recall.

Any one here see this code on the Discovery series?

@guy The original was Continental VDO and I had the main dealer replace it at my expense with another Continental VDO one with a recent manufacture date (wasn't interested in dropping the fuel tank - tech said it was really awkward due to length and harness without a lift) when the recall came out because JLR had no idea when the new pump would be available. When the revised version finally came out, I had them do the recall, which used a Delphi pump. I can only assume 2 years later it's now failing. Trying to decide if I should tackle this one myself, the main dealers here no longer want to service vehicles older than 5 years...

Many thousands of miles and the DTCs did not return....until now. Wish there was way to know if there's actually a problem or if they're appearing for no reason or does it need to have the software patch reapplied? What's concerning is it's not just the P0089 TSB code it's also the P008a DTC.

Well....completely unexpectedly, cold started immediately triggered MIL DTC P008A-07 and P0089-64 and engine running rough like bad injectors and LTFT indicates Bank 2 trim at -7%

So I reckon it's time to change out the flange/filter and fuel pump...AGAIN

So which pump to order? The original Continental VDO which's been used by LR for many years was replaced by Delphi at around 2 to 4 times the cost of the VDO depending on where you source...

Pity too, the tank's nearly full
