From what I remember... and this was a long time ago... it all started around a year before this issue started. I noticed a leak under the car and took it to a shop... to the dealership as it was still under warranty. It had a transmission leak from somewhere I cant remember. I think it was a line. It was fixed under warranty. That winter all of my problems started. Took it to the dealership multiple times and they couldn't replicate my issues every single time. They did not follow my instructions like leaving the car outside overnight and taking it for a quick drive as soon as they started the vehicle. Or they maybe had enough of me and wanted a quick way out. After comming back once more, some genius decided to look over the paperwork and said, it was low on fluid and topped off the tranny. Problem dissapeared. I suspect that when they fixed the transmission leak the first time, they didn't top it off or followed the correct sequence. When i did my own tranny service, I remember it having multiple steps, including waiting for the correct temperature for final fill.
I hope you get it resolved. Good luck

That's exactly what happened, the summer before this all started happening i took the car in for a transmission leak. It was repaired at the dealer under cpo warranty. I suspect that they didn't refill the transmission thinking not enough fluid came out.

Thanks for the follow up on this. I am having the rough running issue with my 2011 LR4 (230,000 km). It usually is fine after getting well warmed up, but this morning was still doing it by the time I arrived at work. I noticed that when I shifted into neutral or park it ran smoothly, so seems to be transmission related. I also have an intermittent pulsating or thrumming sound when over 60 kmh, which is annoying and makes me think I won't make it to point B. Took it to my local guy that had looked after my LR3 for years and he couldn't find anything obvious.

Just questioned Grok on this and as I narrow down my questions it seems to be pointing to a potential torque converter issue. Grok did say when questioned further that a fluid flush MAY help, and that low fluid level could cause similar issues. Will check the fluid this weekend and update if I can find anything. I'm using this for my daily driver and don't want to trade it in for a CX-90!

My shop got my LR4 sorted. They had used the correct ZF fluid, everything was filled correctly, and even reset the adaptations. The shop owner drove it for a few days, had the fluid changed again, and then performed some sort of adjustment, I don’t recall what, but I’ll have to ask. It’s been shifting 99.9% better even in temps around 0 F.
