Default Thoughts, please!

Hi all,

I found a 2015 LR4 that I am going to look at tomorrow. I called the dealer where the truck has been serviced, and the service guy was awesome and told me it was a well maintained truck. He knows the truck and the guy who owned it. He told me the last time the owner was in he needed some work, he declined and traded it in.

What has been done:
  • Control arm bushings
  • Supercharger nose cone
What NEEDS to be done:
  • Valve cover gaskets
  • Upper coolant pipe
  • Sealant for upper timing chain cover
  • Lower Supercharger gasket
  • Vacuum pump gasket (vacuum pump is fine)

I already know that I need to replace the front and rear coolant crossovers. So I am wondering from the list that needs to be done, are most of the items ancillary based on changing the valve cover gaskets? How hard is replacing the VC gaskets?

Appreciate any thoughts on this. I dont mind doing the work, but not if it's a huge job like the HG's on a D2.

Thank you!
Jamie

The vacuum pump's a common leak and easy to repair for a few dollars, valve cover gaskets are also a common failure but take a lot of labour but part of that includes replacing the coolant pipes and super charger gasket required when doing all of the other items so honestly not much at all in total. However, there's more to these trucks than that and over time you'll find yourself replacing many parts as they fail, and they will. Read these forums for more info.

Thank you. Exactly what I was looking for.

I have a 2001 D2 that I bought 22 years ago. So not unfamiliar with land rover ownership. Appreciate the response!
