So I tried again this morning and have no warning lights. What I want to achieve is the display showing a fixed an angel as in my first display and then drive with logging of live values to see if there are then warning lights which I can relate to the SASM syste. So far I can't get a fixed steering angle as I had originally. Here it is

So far the conclusion I am drawing is that the sensor has had a bad contact and since I have been jiggling it manually it has stabilised. When I make sure the angle is reading OK I can drive for miles with no issues (so far..). This would make sense since months ago when this started happening I remember hitting a big pothole and the shock was pretty good and instantly all the warning lights came on - which would point to a contact issue. LR cleared all the faults last week and I wonder if their clearance is different from IID's and that perhaps I had faults in memory but hidden from IID and these caused faults too. I really have no idea since I don't know how IID works in detail
