Default 02 DII 4.0 to 4.6 conversion NOT SWAP Q's

I've done some research and found a lot of people swapping the entire 4.0l motor out for the 4.6l, but I also come across some information suggestion the block are the same for the two motors.

Can anyone verify this? Also, if that is the case does anyone know which parts are reused from the 4.0 and which parts must come off a 4.6 to make this work properly?

Seems like it could save some money doing it this way and I'm not rich but am handy with tools.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes block is the same...same heads....
you need the 4.6 rotating assembly.....whichever pistons you want
the computers are adaptive, but a matching 4.6 ecu should make it easier

Excellent, finally some good news lol.
I heard the 4.0 pistons raise the compression a little and are better. Has anyone found this to be true?
Anyone have these parts laying around to sell me?
I believe the mass air flow sensor needs to be changed along with the top portion of the intake air filter box and piping to the throttle body correct?
Thanks

High comp. pistons are offered for both, but yes the 4.0 is going to be higher compression w/ 4.6 assembly

So doing the 4.6l swap with all the parts I've mentioned such as 4.0 pistons, larger maf and larger intake what should I expect roughly for hp and torque?

Any reason to do oil pump or anything else while I'm in there?

Factory 4.6 specs max it at 217hp at 4500 rpm and 300lbs at 2500rpm
Who knows w/ the tweaking...cams and whatever
4.0....182/243
Depending on miles oil and to timing set could be a great idea
