Most disco2s here in the USA don’t have CDL...!!!

Good point, this might work if you try the above steps using low range instead of CDL.

Just to add... All the facelift Disco 2's overseas don't have the 4.6L V8. Only NAS had them.

I'm surprised they didn't just pull the TC fuse/relay if that was the problem. I would guess that low number has something more to do with the Motronic ECU and tuning rather than the TC. TC has worked fine for us with 300hp/335 ft-lbs, but that's not running the engine on the Motronic.

I just validated that yes the TC stays off with CDL reengaged.

So again...the trick is to engage CDL and turn the engine off. When you restart with CDL engaged, the TC is turned off and will remain off until you disengage the CDL, turn the engine off, and restart engine

If I'm not mistaken, that trick only works on the first SLABS ECU version, on the later 03 and 04 revisions it does not do that.
