Default Defender lowering rods and gap tool

I recently just put lowering rods on my defender 110. It now rides at acces level when in drive level. When I try to lower to access level now that the rods are installed it hits ?bottom? and raises up. I bought a gap tool and was wondering if I can change th settings to make the vehicle any lower. I have tried to do this but the car does not respond. I am wondering if anyone has had any experience in this.

Did you remove the rods before trying to calibrate to a lower height? If not..... Also don't forget to get a total alignment if you plan to squat the thing like the 1980s are still alive.

I had the rods on before I got the tool. Can I not calibrate with the rods in?

No. They are throwing the baseline off. So like how when you drop to access it it sorta hits rock bottom and raises.... you will have the same issue with calibration. Rods needs to go. You have to pick one or the other, not both.

Will the gap tool allow me to drive lower than access height if I remove the rods?

If you want to destroy the truck, sure.

Well thats a bummer I have to remove the rods. I was hoping I could use the tool to tell the computer the new ride height and be able to still have access mode but lower than from factory.

I did see an option on the gap tool to disable the "bump stop". Have you ever tried this? I wonder if that would fix the issue of the car hitting bottom and raising back up?
