Default How to keep hi lift jack from rattling?

My jack is mounted to the roof rack with the little ubolt to stud and turn **** nut contraption offered by hi lift. I have one of those rubber frame to handle slip on things. But my set up still rattles at every bump. What am I missing? Is there a better style rubber deal? I've been wrapping duct tape around it, but that gets hot an loose. Anyone..... Thanks? the rattle is from the jack and jack frame.

Lay it across the floor behind front seats no rattle, not adding high weight to the top heavy vehicle, don,t need a ladder to get it out for use, out of the elemants

GENIUS!!!!!! I knew I'd get some great advice from you fine folks. thanks Tom
next you are going to try to convince me that the roof rack is not really adding 15hp and giving me better fuel economy.

I love the rack and hope to eventually have one, jack on floor was recommended to me from another here, works great for me, so is the whole jack rattling on the rack or just the handle? You could try innertube rubber in place of the duct tape like skinny bicycle inner tube

now, that i can try that. it is the cam/mechanism thing rattling on the main
I-beam. there is no jack to rack rattle.
and truly, there is no room in the cabin, for it. frig.,2 car seats, cooler, safe, 2 tricycles(didn't want to road trip with red rider hanging off the roof), spares, snacks, entertainment components, inverter.......etc.

I have my son sit there no problem with jack in the way, so are you talking the small lever to switch from up to down? If so hi lift sells a neoprene cover for just the jack head or the whole jack, I leave mine locked in the up position

The engine knock should be loud enough to mask it. If not, Ina Gadda Da Vida (Iron Butterfly) should do the trick.
