Default Parking Breaks and Bench Seats

Has anyone ever removed the parking break successfully? I mean completely took it out and disengaged it. Id had the idea of a bench seat, and havent heard anything about anyone else ever doing this? Would I be able to extend the shifters to make them longer? I dont know if this is even possible, Id maybe want to weld a new base for the seat. Any major problems anyone would see because of this modification?
