Default trans adapter

The little information I have been able to get leads me to believe that LR used a dodge trans in 1982,83,84 rr classics. Does anyone know if this is true? What a gem that would be to get my hands on. Anyone with any comments pls feel free.

Yes before Land Rover went to the 4 speed auto the old 3 speed auto was indeed a Dodge transmission.
Little things I have read about in Land Rover History.

Yes dude. LR uses dodge transmission before but they put their own transmission and they start to rock.

The ZF that Rover now uses is not their own but a German built tranny used by many manufactures.

I believe this was the TF727. A dodge tranny, but Rover used the International Harvester Version that had a different bellhousing from dodge. Also I think Rover used a bellhousing adapter and an adapter to mate the Rover T-case to the tranny
