2017 Discovery
Hi
My wife is hell bent on getting a 2017 Discovery, her dream car aparently. My initial thoughts were no way, non rich people shouldnt buy rich cars, servivce costs, reliability etc. Its done 49k (klms) is in perfect condtion for $40k aus. All my seaches reveal major grief from owners in relation to balance shafts etc. Looking for positive experiences from current owners that have had a good experience with their Disco. Cars not likely to do more than 1000ks a year mainly city driving. All comments appreciated. Cheers Steve

Mine is a 2018 we bought new. Now done over 70k miles. Lots of urban run about and also highway too. Has been outstanding
No major issues - some early glitches with software that was all sorted years ago. Only mechanical issues
- windscreen leaked - common issue and was replaced on warranty. Apparently the factory glue around the edges didn't adhere properly
- hood/bonnet latch binding - replaced
Otherwise all routine servicing
Have found it perfectly reliable. Comfortable and very versatile.
Not surprisingly most online posts will be negative. That's the nature of online forums.
But - true that like any luxury car parts (and mechanics) can be expensive. So go in with eyes open

2017 HSE Si6 bought in 2018 at 13K miles, now at 55K miles.
Only issues were the leaky windshield (only a couple drops but they replaced it), and a problem with the In-Touch Module after an over the air update.
Runs great, gets about 22 to 23 mpg over entire tank with mix of city and mountain driving.
Have taken it on some serious off road trails with no problem.
I have replaced the tires with more aggressive, slightly larger diameter all terrain tires.
Just replaced the battery but the old one was still good.
Have replaced brake fluid, all other fluids except transmission fluid which is planned for next summer.

2017 Discovery TDV6 Diesel HSE Luxury 76K
Winshield replaced
Maintenance, Maintenance,Maintenance
Off road beast
Note:If its diesel, short tripping will stop the DEF filter. Needs a decent commute or some longish towing.
Oh, did I mention Maintenance?
I love mine.
You will always see all of the bad, very little of the good on internet and forums.
Oh, did I mention Maintenance?
Your wife will absolutely love it.

2017 Discovery TD6 HSE with 82k miles
Early issue with leaky windscreen, fixed under warranty.
Early issue with rear seat back latch mechanism, fixed under warranty.
Since then, just regular maintenance.
As it's a diesel, I've had to pay particular attention to short trips clogging the DEF, but I use a fuel additive once a month to help.
It's been one of the best vehicles I've owned and it's amazing for long trips. I plan on keeping it for quite some time.
