2017 HSE Lux Buying Advice
I am looking at a 17 HSE Luxury with 72k miles. It is 9/10 condition with new 22” tires. The engine was replaced in 2023 with a new one from JLR. The new engine has 3k miles on it. It’s is the 3.0 SCV6 engine.
Questions:
1. Would you consider a Discovery that has had its engine replaced?
2. What would this add, if any, to the value of the vehicle? I’m trying to get a fair asking price.

It could mean the vehicle was abused. Making it worth less.
But with the delicacy of these motors, more likely bad luck with a tendency towards lax ownership.
In the end. I think the value is the same. But I would consider it a bonus that it was replaced.
keep in mind a motor from JLR can be rebuilt or new. $5k-$7k price difference.

That’s good. Both are good, but factory new is best.
$14k seems cheap ish, but depends on when/where it was bought. In SoCal each dealer will give a different price.
The other factor is what was changed out when they did the motor. New injectors. High pressure pumps, pulleys, supercharger snout, etc. the engines comes with valve covers, spark plugs, and a water pump, that’s it
Anyways, we have 2 D5’s and love them. Good luck.
