2023 Disco V vs 2022 Lexus LX600
The LX600 is an off-road monster for the class, E-KDSS will out articulate the D5 by miles. Size down the wheels and go with aggressive tires and it’s very impressive. Lockers are available aftermarket and there will likely be aftermarket armour available very quickly.
Our D5 is probably being traded for the LX600 or upcoming GX550 in 2024.

Wow....
I've just have seen it recently overseas - and let me tell you, I was not impressed. The whole electronic dash seems like it has been put together as a afterthought, and the suspension is not what I was expecting. Jumps on every little road bump. Honestly, not impressed a bit. But... it is a personal opinion.
Good luck with it !
So true, those wheels are not off road. Whatever I have seen, it was some muddy roads demo and some water sheds. Honestly, I was not impressed.
But, for some, that could be an awesome vehicle.
For me, at that price point I want more ( disclosure - I got a D5 already ).
Anyways, interesting vehicle nonetheless and in all honesty beats Mercedes by far.
looks like an electric shaver
@Disco5cdn did you get any further with this? I just pic of the 23 Sequoia. Subjectively looks better, comes with the Hybrid motor. Probably the reason they're not selling the LC here. If we don't flip our Disco 5 TD sooner, I might be looking at that.

As for the Sequoia, although it is 90% a land cruiser in my opinion, a couple things led me to LX.
1. The rear cargo area and partitions would drive me insane. The fact that the third row does not fold flat to me was a huge mistake. I'll take a not so awesome digital dash over compromised loading space in an SUV.
2. Capstone pricing will be very close to the base LX
3. Built in Japan Yoshiwara plant (famous land cruiser plant). (this was the biggest one, if you research the part sourcing by region you will see why a Japanese vehicle built in Japan is superior to the ones built here)
4. Lexus > Toyota branding
5. LX will be far rarer- yes the sequoia capstone is nice, but most sequoia's sold will be base/limited models. Meaning your 75-80K SUV(capstone) will really just be regarded as a 55K SUV - not good for depreciation on the Capstone model.
6. Larger size, but not sure it's a usable larger size (3rd row issue again, which I don't use very often for ppl)
The HUGE plus to the Sequoia is the hybrid engine! That is where I think the LX should have received this engine. Only thing I can think of is because the LX is a world vehicle with the land cruiser, that the Hybrid V6 is too new to know its reliability. LX uses the LS engine that's been around for 4 years I believe. So they have a fair amount of data on it. Plus been used in the LC300 for the last year as well. Also pano roof is nice. I think a base/limited sequoia will be a great suv. (TRD Pro with the military fatigue on the seats and exterior black trim was awful to me, if it wasn't for that I would have considered it more) But if you want a luxury, rugged SUV the capstone price will be within 10K of the base LX. I'd still take the LX. Just like an RR - From the farm to the opera.
What are your thoughts on the two?
Congrats, a cool ride. I'm warming up to the styling. I'm a huge fan of the Hi Lux & LC platforms so glad the latter is coming to NA Tundra, Seqs. I've always preferred stealth hence Disco over Rangey. Seq over Lexus etc but yeah the top range Sequoia model is pricey. And yes, Japan sourced quality over the NA hybrid platform sees a good trade.
When we got it our Sequoia hadIRS and a 9000+ towing, and better fuel economy than our beloved LR3 HSE V8. I don't know how they take away IRS and fold flat 3rd row. Surprisingly, upon reflection, thinking the LX > Sequoia. I hope you like it, only that and cockroaches will survive the coming armageddon!

I did go ahead and order the LX. In the end the Disco I specced online was fairly close in price and the LX premium comes with every option I would want. In the end, the lure of the land cruiser Japanese built beast won me over. Although, I have always like RR's I think the full size Range is just out of what I would want to spend. And the Disco although a great SUV as well just didn't edge the win for me. The LX isn't perfect (the dash display is not what you would want for this class) but I can forgo certain "gadgets" for a supremely built vehicle. I will probably keep this until electric takes over.
