7-pin trailer connector cover broken = $1200
The cover to the 7-pin factory-installed trailer electrical connector broke off the 2nd time I used it. It's hinged at 2 weak points of the plastic - great rugged Best-4x4xFar design .... not. Dealer wants $1200 to replace the entire tow package. No warranty replacement as user broke it.
Does anyone know the original vendor that they use at factory? There's only a LR logo on the cover and nothing on the body of the connector. I bought one off Amazon but the hinge not compatible with the body on the vehicle.
Otherwise I'm going to be busy with Fusion360 and a 3D-printer .... will share CAD here if that ever happens.
P.S. I'd go without the cover but it is needed to retain the trailer connector, for some designs of connector at least :-(

After playing a couple of rounds of Amazon-roulette, I found that the cover from this connector fits fine: "CURT 55415 Replacement 7-Way RV Blade Connector, Factory Tow Package and USCAR Socket Required"
You have to use the original well-rusted steel hinge pin and the CURT spring which is not quite right but works well enough (not yet road-tested - don't throw away the alternate parts just yet ...).
Thanks for listening!

so how this worked? Mine broke in the last couple weeks and I just started looking for a replacement.

This repair has worked fine so far - hasn't fallen off yet. But, as noted elsewhere, we've moved to an old F-350 diesel as our main tow vehicle now so the Discovery tow connector doesn't get the use it did a few years ago.
I posted a while back a very good option for swapping over the cover. Pollack is an OEM supplier. This unit is more sturdy. Has a nice connector pin function diagram on the cover as well.
