(Carnage Pics) - Replaced my Front Passenger Window Regulator
My front right (passenger) window regulator went to hell about a year ago. The glass would only go up if I "walk" it along the B-pillar. It's been due time to fix it. Luckily, the dealer quoted me $1280! Not content with the John Deere style service department at Land Rover, I bought the part for $400, shipped, new, from another dealer. That's because I
on how to do it in 30 minutes. Cheers to this guy! I owe him a beer!
I was skeptical, but I did it! The video was a UK model but on the same door, so it took me a bit longer as I'm a software engineer, not a mechanical God - UNTIL NOW!
My old regulator is available for free (plus shipping) if you want it by next week. Here's the carnage of the old regulator. Notice the broken clip and how it is in the window down position for the front side and the rear side is fully up. This thing was a mess! But this came out in one piece.
As a bonus, I don't have any extra screws to worry about!
Also, I want to mention that I did the auto adaptation by turning the power on, holding the down switch until the window went completely down, then held the up switch (the first detent - not the full auto detent). In up mode, it stopped about halfway which is where it was when I installed it. I released the switch, then held up in 1st detent again and it started to roll up and stopped at the top. This programmed the auto detent, and I tested it and everything worked! I also tried global open and close as well. All is good!
I went with the LR OE part because I wasn't sure if the aftermarket parts had a different speed motor and I want both front windows to raise and lower at the same speed.
