I got a reminder text on Saturday that my appointment was today. I called and they confirmed it was today and not the 21st. So I took it in today and waited. I now have Carplay. No charge at Land Rover of Norwood, MA.
I have had screen freezing and showed them the video so that might be part of the reason why they didn't charge. My service adviser told me they would try to put it on but not all models can get it. Anyway the update and Carplay were both installed.

I installed the latest map update myself last night.

One weird thing, Under software update I show
Infotainment software version: S18C-18.37.1-222737

But under the Nav settings I show
InControl Touch Pro App version : 2018B.7-7447
So that wasn't updated. I didn't realize they were different.

Just had the update and CarPlay installed during a scheduled service and paid $99. Service guy said it would have been $300 had I not had some prior screen freezing. There was some wink-wink when he asked, so be sure to report your screen problems if you plan on updating.

Happy with it so far - at least as far as CarPlay goes... Haven’t dug into the inControl too deeply, but was disappointed to see some remnants of the old interface still lingering (e.g. Live).

It sounds to me like every year can/will receive the update, so I’m curious if anyone’s been told otherwise.

I've used it about 10 times so far, and there has been 2 times where I get a message that CarPlay is Not Available. Has anyone noticed that CarPlay doesn't work every time?

Only if I use the LR remote app to start the car beforehand.

Interesting. I know that I did that one time. I wonder if I did it the second time. I’ll have to pay attention to that. Thanks!

This remains one of the dumbest errors/oversights I've ever experienced with tech.

I did notice a pattern with CarPlay not working with Remote App start. I just got the 18D SW update. I'm going to test and see if they fixed the issue. Service said there were a number of fixes in the update.

Well, I've used CarPlay three times after starting with Remote App. It has worked twice. The third time I got a new error about by USB cable needing to be disconnected and reconnected. However, that didn't fix the problem. The USB port would no longer charge. I had to turn off the car, let everything completely shutdown, then restart it for CarPlay (and the USB port) to start working again.

So, improvement, but not quite there.
