Disco V keep or trade
Is my Disco v cursed? This is my third Land Rover. I had a LR4 that I finally got rid of at 134,000 miles, tired of spending $4k a year on repairs. I bought a 2021 Disco 5 with 26k miles on it last year. Since then I have had the Turbo replaced, the Hybrid Battery replaced, and now that the factory warranty is out, it needs a $2300 worth of work to fix a coolant leak. I wish I had the time and knowledge and tools to do these repairs on my own but I simply don't. I have a great independent that I trust to do the work. However, I am wondering if this thing is even more failure prone than most Land Rovers. It has 39000 miles now. I can't find much information on the forums about people having to replace turbos and hybrid batteries.
Does the internet think this particular Disco's dancing days are over and I should trade it in for something else? Or should I give it one more chance? For what it's worth we otherwise love the car.

Land Rover isn't the only car maker that's having issues. Well, maybe the toyota people.
I switched to Discovery V after 3 decades of driving Mercedes..
Regardless 80k miles, my 2018 model looks new and runs perfect. Mind, I am diesel guy and love 450 miles tank range.
I do have glitch with door switch, who disables keyless locking, but so far I am living with pushing the remote button.
Frankly, I was on the market for Mercedes GL, who is also 7seater, but finding 1 in light color and with rear AC turned too difficult, when LR offers much more gadgets for competitive price.
So sorry for your bad luck, but what would you replace it with?

What was the charge to have the turbocharger replaced? My turbocharger went **** up on Friday and I drove to the dealer in limp mode yesterday. No appointment, so I don't expect them to get to it immediately and they haven't called yet to give me an estimate.

I have to say that I bought a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser last month and kept it for a couple days and returned it. Absolutely no comparison with my 2017 D5. Not as quiet or roomy or the ride or the build quality. Nor the features or capabilities. If you want to drive an iPhone then the Land Cruiser wins. If you want build quality and luxury keep the D5. There were dozens of things that disappointed me. Happy to keep my D5. Your opinion may differ so you can’t argue or disagree with me. It’s my opinion. And for $70k plus I could buy a lot of repairs or extended warranty.

Good question. Nothing else is as good. I just test drove a new 4runner: $62k and drives like garbage compared to the Disco. Then I hopped in a 2025 Land Cruiser - better than the 4runner but felt like a Corolla inside for $72k. the only thing better than my Disco for our needs is a Defender 130 - and well, that has the same engine, lol.
I agree. After visiting the Toyota dealer yesterday, I realize the Land Cruiser is wildly over-priced for what you get, same is true of its platform-mate 4Runner. The GX is an interesting proposition but I can't imagine it drives nearly as nice as the Discovery.
Thankfully the dealer managed to convince Land Rover to pay for it under good will as the factory warranty was expired by only 6 weeks.
