Lightbulb Draining the DEF AdBlue Tank

Does anyone know how to drain the Diesel Exhaust Fluid from its tank? Got a message saying my fluid is out of specifications… I guess I should drain and replace. Thanks!

Very easy, just did mine. On the drivers side remove the middle steel skid plate to access the tank then if you look up on the side of the tank there is a rubber hose about 6-8 inches long. Rotate it down and pull the cap off and drain into a bucket.

Thanks for the tip! I will try that 👍

How it happened - no idea. I was using the same DEF I have always used. Unsure what happened…. I may need to see the dealer if that continues 😳

My 2018 TD6 just gave me the same error, first time ever. Previous thread says it likely needs the DEF injector cleaned, not just a tank drain/flush/refill. Lame that you only get 250 miles to fix it - that's just not fair over a holiday in snow country 200 miles from home. I'm getting so fed up with these diesel emissions issues I'm thinking of throwing in the towel and going back to, shock horror, gasoline/petrol! My old LR3 still running just fine with never a visit to the LR dealer in around 10 years now (Been through hell and back with an older Merc GL350 - that's still in dealer purgatory waiting on recall fixes for almost a year now). Thanks CARB.

Just done the fix, the crystal build up around the port and blocked the def, just simply cleaned up and drive around 20-25 mins in highway then the warning gone, I think the issue happens on every td6 with no exception.

Interesting. Haven't had it happen to me yet at almost 82k miles.

Where is the part you photographed located?

Sorry for the delay. In summary, they charged out of warranty me to drain the DEF and the same issue reoccurred 200 km later. BUDDS Land Rover did not accept that they misdiagnosed the problem and never gave me my money back. I contacted Land Rover North America and found no support either - weird. The final solution came by replacing the NOX sensor. I have driven the car for a month now with no issues.
The takeaway is that I am opting out from Land Rover in the next car purchase. I few so bad since I love the brand and driving experience. Not sure what I will buy though.

Update on my "Incorrect DEF" issue: the dealer solution was "Performed LTB01084NAS1 & updated PCM software". They did not initially want to do this under the emissions warranty but, after some persuasion, they decided that, because of the software update, it could be counted as covered. I was pressured into taking a "64K" service early (somehow we're now 12K miles ahead of the service intervals based on mileage although we have put on 16K in the last year with a bunch of heavy towing so a good sevice probably a good investment) - I'm assuming this is all in miles, not km - wallet is considerably lighter because of that ...
