Default Engine Mount Replacement D5 Diesel

Anyone have the R&R engine mount procedure for the 3.0 diesel? Plenty of info out there for gasoline which I assume is similar. However the driver's side on the diesel looks absolutely crowded and difficult to access at least from the top, can't even see it from the top... Unlike the passengers side. Just like to understand what to expect. Hopefully removing turbos and EGR isn't a thing. Thanks a ton.

It's documented in the service manual. Looks like it's a little more involved than the RH side.

From the service manual...

Disconnect the startup battery ground cable
Raise the vehicle
Remove the AC compressor
Remove the front driveshaft

After that it's the same as the RH. Looks like hours are 0.6 for the RH and 3.2 for the LH.

Are there other challenging pieces that need removal as part of removing the front drive shaft and ac compressor?

@RyanLR3 Sent you a PM. The procedure for the LH mount references the other procedures, but I didn't get that deep into it. I'll take a look again.

The front driveshaft doesn't look fun. The transfer case end is a pretty standard 6-bolt flange, but I'm not sure what to make of the front end where it attaches to the diff. It requires a couple of special wrenches and has a warning not to let the weight of the shaft hang on the front joint.

Air conditioning compressor... The driveshaft should be a piece of cake compared to this one. Steering column linkage, disconnect and move coolant hoses, same for the high and low pressure turbocharger hoses, evac refrigerant, remove compressor.

Unless there's some shortcut I definitely wont be tackling this myself.

Ugh, thank you. That's what I figured. There is so much in the way of that mount top down. Unfortunately I hate paying shops to do work, so I might end up doing it anyway. I'll report back once it's done.

@Chucktastic

These are the tools needed for the front, I feel like I’ve seen 36mm and 38mm fittings on the driveshafts, that’s why I included both. Also picture of diff coupling.
