I reused my old drain and fill plugs and sealing washers on both differentials and transfer case many thousands of miles ago with no seepage or leaks visible. Same with my LR3 previously.
I'm actually just about to start on this project as well (20k miles, 5 years--changing due to time and severe driving).
I'm having a hard time finding washers/gaskets/replacement drain and fill plugs. ARE there replaceable washers/gaskets on the drain/fill plugs?
Based on everything I've looked up - IYF500030 might be the 16mm copper gasket for the t-case. Unconfirmed though - it lists it for the Range Rover, LR4, LR3 etc but not the 5. IYF500030 IS NOT THE CORRECT WASHER FOR THE 5. IT IS SLIGHTLY SMALLER IN DIAMETER AND WILL NOT FIT
I just changed my t-case fluid @ 49k miles and it was very dark. Had some clunking as well, hopefully this fixes that.
The 16mm washers I ordered did not fit, I believe the correct washer is the 18mm LR048842, but this is not confirmed.
Does anyone have a source for a magnetic transfer case drain plug? My old fluid had some metal shavings in them. Odd LR would make the diff plugs magnetic but not the transfer case...
Figured out the transfer case copper washer. Fischer Plath makes one that's exactly the same - 18X22X15CU. Price is $0.29! New one on top of the OE one for comparison.
Also, ordered and fitted a magnetic drain plug to my transfer case. Thread size is M18 x 1.5
The one below is the one I purchased - well machined, and magnet is very strong.
My transfer case is different. Can anyone confirm the drain and fill points and the correct oil and amount. I purchased 2 quarts of Halbot 311 oil which I believe is correct.
