Default HELP! Won’t go into gear

‘17 Discovery TD6. Was backing out of a parking space then it stopped like it hit the brakes on purpose. Now it’s stuck here giving this issue.

Wow - that's an odd one...

Here's what I'd try
1) code reader and pull codes to see what it says. Best place to start. Eg you have a stability control error on the dash, not sure what that is about
2) measure voltage across battery terminals when car is off. See what it reads. Modern cars generate a lot of electrical gremlins when battery is too low

Post back here the results to those two tests

3) disconnect negative battery terminal. Wait 30-60s and reconnect. (Have keyfob nearby as alarm may sound and hit the unlock button on fob)

See if that clears it up.

yea I was in panic mode yesterday as I was between Houston and San Antonio trying to get to a client and had to cancel on everyone. Towed it to my mx shop and hoping they can diagnose and fix it. The battery isn’t old but that would be great if it was the problem. I did disconnect the battery terminal a few times and no luck. Was stuck at a drive in so the only tools I could get was whatever the gas station down the street had. Really sucked. All the warnings are associated I believe. Never had them before except for the washer fluid one. Damn thing loves saying I’m low.

As an update techs at my European service center found a fault code that the electric shifter was going bad. With labor a &2k fix. Ouch. But hey it’s not the transmission.

Glad you worked it out. And yes - good it's not the transmission. Although these ZF transmissions seem to be amazingly resilient so I'm not surprised that it was electrics
