Default Horn inoperative

Hey guys I tried to hook up a little 12v air compressor/horn to the factory horn leads in the grill and it ran for like 10-15 seconds overall I blew it a few times then it stopped working and the factory horn switch no longer runs the horns. I unhooked the battery to see if it was just some fault but it didn't resolve it. The fuse is good in the passenger fuse box and when I click the horn button down on the wheel I can hear a small click sound like a relay is going off under the dash. Someone said the bcm could be fried but aren't there protections against this? The new horn ran fine continuously off a 12v drill battery so im not really sure whats happened or what I need to do in order to fix it. This is on a 2020 Discovery 5.
