Default Maintenance 32k miles 2019 Disco 5

Hi there,

My 2019 Disco 5 (gas engine) is due for the 32k miles. According to the maintenance manual, I just have to do an oil change, replace filters only if needed after inspection, and do a bunch of checks; nothing else.

I called the stealership to get a price for this maintenance and they quoted USD 2000 which is insane. I talked to the service rep and they said their 32k miles maintenance includes also: transfer case, transmission, and brake fluid replacement, alignment, wiper blades replacement, etc. I am shocked to see such big discrepancy between the owner's maintenance manual (passport to service). Any recommendation on what fluids I should really replace?

I am going to do a long road trip (6k mi + including freezing temps) and I want to make sure my car is in good condition for the trip, but I think transmission, transfer case and brake fluid replacement is excessive at 32k miles.

You only have to do what's in the maintenance guide. Anything above that is the dealer upselling you. I'd find another dealer if they position like that - it's daylight robbery...

Think the formal 2 year / 32k mile is around $500-600 at dealer prices. And half that at an Indy. Half again if you do it yourself...
Brakes fluid is 3 years. Transfer case more like 60k miles.

Agreed. Time for independent.

I did swap the transfer case and diff fluids at 30k (piece of mind). The Front diff and t-case definitely could have gone 60k. The rear diff...fluid was looking kinda dark.

I would recommend replacing the rear diff fluid if you are keen on keeping everything at tip top shape. But the rest of it, go by the book.

Please tell us what fluids you used and what type of rear differential you have.
Thanks

I used genuine OEM fluid. My rear differential has the locking differential fitted. Below are the OEM fluids I picked up (part numbers). As back story, I had a LR3 with a bad rear diff so I'm keen on NOT having any weird bearing noises in this car.

LRN7591 - Front Diff and open rear diff fluid
IYK500010 - T case fluid
LR019727 - Rear locking diff fluid

Looking back, these are the same PNs that the older LR3s and LR4s use. So next time I'll probably buy the stuff from Atlantic British. I look at it as, I paid the dealership premium to gain the knowledge on what I needed.

Lastly, the rear diff is dead easy to change the fluid in. Same with the front. The T-case is a bit of a pain.
