Talking Need Help with changing front brake pads

Hi guys, I have a 2018 Discovery V SE with the small brake I believe. The same caliper as picture showed. It doesn't have the opening like other caliper I can take pads out. Wondering if anyone knows how to do the pad changing or help me with some instruction. Thanks a lot!

I'm guessing here, because they do not look like mine, which I recently changed...

Loosen the bolts holding the caliper onto the hub, remove the bottom one and swing the assembly upwards, then access the pads from inside. It looks like you need new rotors also. In which case you'd have to remove the caliper and position it out of the way anyway.

It looks like you have front fixed 4-piston calipers unlike the floating calipers on certain trims and model years (My 2017 has the floating style caliper). I imagine the procedure on yours is like most fixed caliper designs, which are super easy. There are usually to pins that have to be tapped out with a punch (through those two holes you see in the front, and then the pads and pad retainer would slide right out the side. I have this style of caliper on my AMG, and they are super easy for pad swaps. You then reinstall the pads and the pad retainer, reinsert the pins from the back and tap them in until they are flush with the back of the caliper.

All that being said, your rotors look scored, so you may have to get them replaced anyway, which would require removing the caliper assembly.

Oh, one more tip. You will have to depress all four pistons simultaneously to make space for the new pads. Easiest way to do this is to leave the old pads in place, and spread the pistons apart by pushing the pads outward with a lever of some kind, or ideally a piston compressing tool. Don't push the pistons individually, as the pressure within the caliper will push the other pistons out (kind of like whack-a-mole, lol).
