Adding my UOA for future reference and some pictures from a grand canyon run.
LR dealer sticker said the motor had Mobil 0W-30; I'm switching to Shell Rotella T6 0W-40

 

0-20 is horrible for TDV6

I run Mobil1 5w-30 ESP meets low sap requirements and jlr spec

 

I'll post the UOA from my 0W-40 run when the time comes.

would running 5w30 what land rover recommends improve this result

 

I'm curious about the same. The D5 has been switched to a Liqui Moly 5W30 oil meeting STJLR.03.5005. Planning to run it ~7000 miles and report back.

 

which liqui moly oil meets that spec

 

google says this one, but I can verify with my LR specialist shop. I took the D5 to them for the 32k service.

the thing with the Land Rover spec oil is that it’s aces c1 which has a low ash level but doesn’t have a high level of shear resistance that’s why I’m running the Mobil 1 esp 5w30 aces c3 which is low ash but has a higher shear level

 

Awesome info. I'm running Mobil 1 ESP 5W30 here too based on other recommendations, no oil analysis, but change every 5K.
