Oil Change intervals - 2020 Discovery Landmark
#11
Hi @462disco
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a detailed post with images. This is exactly what I needed to know and greatly appreciated.
I indeed live in Florida and have a 2020 Discovery Landmark ( 3.0L V6 F DOHC 24V ) gasoline engine, All wheel Drive.
1- I'm thinking about changing the oil every 13k-14k (as opposed to 16k), would this be OK?
2- Is this the "suction port" you are referring to:
3- Would I be OK buying a non OEM oil filter like this one from AutoZone?

Thanks in advance!

2. That's the one.
3. I would not do that. You have a 2020 which I imagine is still under warranty. If something catastrophic were to happen to the engine, they will deny warranty. That STP filter is also un-reinforced and only rated for 10k miles.
Honestly, while you're under warranty, I would stick to OEM filters - part LR011279. I know they're more expensive, buying in bulk (4+) will bring the cost down to about ~$25 per filter, and they are rated for the factory OCI which is 16k. I purchased from an online LR dealership so I have an invoice & proof they are genuine filters for warranty - this was also advice from my service advisor just in case something happens.
After warranty is up, you can save a few bucks by doing Mahle, etc if desired... but with OEM being fairly reasonably priced, why do something different?

When's the last time you've ever heard of an oil related failure?
