I track it with an app and get consistent 17-18 town and 20-21 hwy (70-80 mph) hwy loses 2 mpg with ski racks

I purchased my D5 SD4 with 5806 km on the clock. Its now done 16129 km of mainly mixed commuting and open highway driving, with about 1000 km towing a 1 ton trailer.
Distance 10323 km. Diesel usage 971 liters.
This is equivalent to:
9.41 l/100 km
25 miles / US gallon
30.02 miles / UK gallon.
The dash display normally shows about 8.9 l/100 km

As I asked the initial question, I can now post my experience after 9000 miles in our 2018 HSE Lux (Si6). We get around 18-19 US mpg for a mix of town and longer runs. Drops down a few it short hops around town only. Much much better than the old V8 LR4 we had previously...
