Okay so I'm about to pull the trigger on a Disco V but it DOES NOT come with factory installed roof rails. I am being told by the dealer that it is NOT possible to have them installed aftermarket. However, Land Rover sells the roof rails separately as an accessory, which makes no sense to me if they can't be installed after you buy the vehicle. Also, I called a LR service department who told me that they CAN be installed (even though I would just have my husband do it).
I do NOT want to buy the car if I can't install the roof rails down the line. Does anyone have a definitive answer for me? I am BEGGING YOU GUYS.
My secondary question is, is it worth stepping up to an HSE over an SE? Like really? I'm so on the fence and need some guidance.
They can be installed after market, somebody posted the Land Rover installation instructions in one of the threads. I was going to have my dealer install them and then changed my mind, but they install them regularly.
to make yourself feel better take a look at one without the rails installed - you should see removable plastic covers that are removed to install the rails
yes, they are installable
I had my dealer add the roof rails to my D5. Easy to do; it was just pricey. Parts & Labor was about $1,100. So keep that in mind. I had the dealer install because I’m not terribly successful when I monkey around with stuff.

If you like even one of the features in an HSE(and there are many)...just get it. I have found that it just isn't worth worrying about a few bucks for something you wanted and can't get after...
Here was my project this Saturday after reading this thread and looking at the instructions, but I did have to separately order the filler pieces after I got the roof rails. You MUST have the filler pieces.
