Thinking of a new disco. Have some questions.
We are thinking of ordering a new discovery. We are replacing our 2016 Volvo XC90. A few questions
1. any major reliability issues? 4cyl okay?
2. Any discounts offered from dealers?
3. Is depreciation in line with other similar suvs?

Read around here for some info. No major reliability issues - like all cars there are some exceptions. But not chronic!
Some issues sealing the windscreen (repaired on warranty) - hopefully sorted by now. Infotainment a bit clunky. But get used to it fine
Ingenium engines are v good. The 4-pot is fine but I personally find the extra 60bhp from the 6 cylinder to be worth it. If you're not towing or carrying heavy loads 4 is fine. But drive both to test.
Depreciation isn't terrible as there is a very strong used market for them too. But it's an expensive car so it's certainly real money
Might you consider a 2 yr old 6 cylinder with better specs vs a new 4-pot?

I’ve put a little over 3000 miles on mine (p360) including a 2400 mile trip through California and northern Arizona. Did a little off roading in California too. Went through a couple of downpours in northern Arizona…all without a single problem. The only problems I have had were from software updates. Easily fixed by the dealer (should not have to though). I’ve been told the rear seats are a little too firm and become uncomfortable after several hours. That’s HOURS. On short rides no one complains. My dealer gave me an extra $1000 off our already negotiated price for paying cash. Unheard of! A dealer making it worth your while NOT to finance? I didn’t complain. No idea how it will depreciate. It all depends on what the used car market is doing. Right now, I would not be surprised if I could sell my Discovery for more than I paid. I won’t. I love it too much.
1- its an LR - expect issues, but not really major (not like Mercedes SUVs ) - software is full of gremlins but, you'll get used to it eventually. My preference : 6 cyl no question about it. Replacing the Volvo with this will be a major upgrade. Not trying to be snotty or something ... but you will see ...
2 - LOL (sorry could not help it ) ... but hey, you can try !
3 - try this: ask for a lease and see what the residual will be at the end of 3 year lease. That is the closest you will get these days. Yes, is a crazy used car market now, but this may not be there in 3 years. Then again... it may be even crazier ! Who would have envisioned these times 2 years ago !?
Good luck, and btw - it is a fine vehicle, and there are not many real competitors out there for this model.
