Default What's changed since the first release of the D5?

Since the D5 has been in production since 2017, and it's now 2025, what important changes have been made over the last 8 years?
I'm looking to upgrade, not immediately but soonish, from my LR3. I can find the 2015-2016 LR4's for about the same or more than the 2017 D5's. I know that many think of the L319 as peak LR and I'm inclined to agree, but the dealer let us have a really nice D5 as a loaner and that was also very nice. I'm more likely to seek out a petrol engine and finding a D5 with low range is a challenge. However the later D4's were not universally equipped with the 2 speed transfer case and that's a must have.

We have the D-Sport for road trips but I'd like to have one rig that was good at both on and off road. That D5 was a really nice road car. Obviously we didn't test it off road!

The big change was in 21’ with new powertrains, changed interior and trim levels. I also came from an LR3 and am enjoying my 20’ D5 coming up on a year now. Certainly more refined on road and as capable off road in my limited experience thus far. While still good sized they are not as cavernous as the LR3/4. My understanding is any 17’-20’ model with air suspension and/or 3rd row will have two speed transfer case. This covers *most* HSE and HSE Lux trim vehicles. Frankly I do not prefer the changes to styling cues and interior in the facelifted 21’+ models. Also seems a bit harder to find one with low range which is only available with the 6 cylinder on 21’ and newer models.
