There seems to be a demand for defenders in the USA. I have an all original low mileage model (for its year) in generally good road worthy condition which is for sale, which I believe could be restored to pristine with a little work. I am the second owner and bought it in 2002 at 10 years old, so have had it 16 years, and rarely use it these days.

It does not seem to be expensive to ship to the States, and as the vehicle is over 25 years old no emission or safety standard tests are required.

Does anyone have any experience of importing such a vehicle, the procedure, do I need an import agent, escrow account etc. Oh yes and I'll need a buyer too!
Any advise gratefully received.

Main issue for USA import is cannot be engine or frame swapped. Must be original.

Oh and preference for 5 door LHD diesel vehicles. Some will be as extreme as quoting the idea that RHD is $10,000 less than LHD.

Locally, you can talk to Mildenhall VPC in Suffolk... 01638-562752.
They ship vehicles stateside even though I shipped my LHD BMW X5 though them from the states to here in England.
