Default 97 Disco will not start

97 Disco with 98k died on my way to work this morning, SWEET! The starter and battery are in good working order. When I turn the key to the start position, there is a 2 to 3 second delay before the starter turns over, but the engine does not start. No fuel pressure in the fuel rail. The check engine light does not come on in the 2nd (on) position and i do not hear the fuel pump. I've read similar posts, but nothing that match my symtoms. New to Land Rovers and need help. Thanks.

Check fuse 7 engine compartment
Check fuse 6 engine compartment
Reset top button on inertia switch on fire wall
Check fuse 20 under dash
The multifunction relay opeates the pump and a few other things. It is on the pasenger fender between the battery and washer bottle.

Here's pages from the RAVE shop manual.

Of course, check all other fuses, both under hood and under dash. You are correct that it is normal for pump to run for a few seconds, then ECU shuts it off it engine is not spinning.

You should also check spark, if no spark, it will likely be the crank position sensor.

I've experienced this same problem after washing the engine compartment which is leading me to believe that its the crank position sensor.

Here's some info on the ckp. If changing, works better to plug in new one and let in hang while re-fitting. Every nut and spacer goes back in exact order. These pages from a D2, but very similar.
