I'm replacing the oil pump. my question has to do with the center gear ( with the keyways, that rides on the crank shaft). if you slide it back it sits flush with the center sprocket but sliding it forward it sticks out a bit, not flush. when assembling this piece does the flush end face the rubber seal ( towards radiator) or does it face the oil pump cover plate ( towards engine block)? this pic shows the center sprocket slid forward to the not flush position
