Default Introductions are in order...

Hello to all! I purchased a 2001 Disco II last week, and want to say that I am looking forward to all the great discussions and contributions to come. You all seem very accommodating to LR newbies, and very willing to go the extra mile to help others. I appreciate that a lot!

I do have one question, though. As a baby to the world of Land Rovers, would there be anyplace on the forum I could visit to "catch up" as it were regarding the foibles, idiosyncrasies, or attention areas for the Disco 2, and how can a newb like me dive into the various issues I need to address? It would be great if there was a laundry list of sorts to follow when getting our Landies up to speed, considering all the maintenance that might not have been done by PO's.

Thank you all for the respect you show another. It really has made my decision to join so easy!

Steve

Welcome !! and congrats on your disco purchase.
In the Discovery section there is a "write ups & how to's " thread......go there first and read the 60k maint. schedule. follow that and you will likely head off most issues before they become problems. Don't trust that the po's took care of you, that has bitten us all a time or two. good luck and have fun with your D2

I must add that the most recent PO was a very conscientious LR maintainer. You guys might know him as ChanchoVerde. However, the LR has spotty history and also had been sitting for a while previous to him. I, just like him, want to dive in on getting this Landie up to speed. What I don't want to do, though is to exacerbate a problem because of my ignorance on how to diagnose or repair something.

I'm really looking forward to owning this rig for a long time, and am also looking forward to working on it and learning about it with you guys.

BTW, the pics will be coming soon. Looking for a nice day to pull it out of it's house and say "smile"!

Glad you made it Steve! I read your first post and thought hey wait a minute. The second post was much nicer. I'm glad to see that the rig formerly known as "Chancho Verde" is in good hands. How's the search for the t/case coming?

Just waiting for payday. You know - December, Christmas, that whole thing comes first...Wait...do you guys think it would be rude of me to ask my wife for a used transfer case for Christmas? Would you do it?

I totally would ask her. Worst she can say is "no". You can always write and ask Santa!
