Looking to buy, Discovery II, need help
Hey ya'll, just need some advice on whether this truck is going to be practical for me. I've been driving a lowered Acura for some time now and pretty much just grew out of it. I like the Discovery II's alot and they are in my price range, around 17k is my max. I will be using it for light off roading in the N. Georgia mountains and also around the city. Is this truck right for me? granted I am a college student and can't afford anything ridiculous to repair. How long can I run this truck, will it make 200k?

I like my Land Rover; that said I do not think it would a good vehicle while you are in college.
You'll end up spending more time with your Land Rover than you will with your girlfriend.
Fuel economy on mine is 11-12 in town and 15-16 on the road.

this truck can easily make 200k, it can make 400k or so with only ancillirary parts breaking, the engine is strong and so is the transmission, and frame. But when things like altenators and water pumps go, you need to fix them yourself and save money bc these parts are expensive. Just learn to ignore small problems later in the vehicles life. It will eventuallly start leaking oil and other fluids, but it will have a high price tag to fix so just ignore it and learn to use Jb weld and duct tape.
