Default Nav/radio/display/4x4 info

Greetings,

2007 HSE, 117k miles

I've been searching for awhile on this forum and haven't come across an answer/solution.

We've had some rain recently. The front display screen is intermittent. Seems to reboot randomly. And, the suspension info is incorrect and frozen when it does come on. The radio controls work if you can get to them before the screen blacks out.

I've removed most of the electronics from the rear 1/4 driver's side, there appears to be NO moisture or evidence of any, cleaned all of the connections, bypassed the bluetooth. The fiber optics blinks slowly and goes out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Russ

It's tough to know what is going on thru email. I'm assuming these problems happen when the vehicle is running. Do you think the rain is connected with these problems?

Water gets in a few common locations; sunroof drains, pollen filter (usually from poor sealing of the lower windshield cowl), in the rear drive side (but you don't see any moisture). You can also remove floor trims at the doors. This will expose the ends of the carpet. Slide your hand under the carpet for a moisture check.

If this is not moisture related, check the positive and negative terminal connectors and harnesses. Also check the body grounds. A few are located under the battery. The easiest way to gain access is to remove the Right Front (pass. side) wheel well trim. As TSB from Land Rover recommend these ground checks.

Any faults stored? Loss of communication faults or low voltage faults? If you are starting to think a phone module or a fiber optic module is the problems, plug in this loop to bypass the module in question.

This is actually a tool standard on BMW 7 series vehicles (e65). Found it for $23 with a quick Google search.
